Flávio Bolsonaro Lands in U.S. Two Days After His Father's Election Loss

Flávio Bolsonaro is now in the United States, arriving just two days after his father lost the presidential runoff. Two sources familiar with the matter confirmed the landing. The move follows a quick departure from Brazil that left local investigators scrambling for information.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva defeated incumbent Jair Bolsonaro in Sunday's election. By Tuesday, Brazilian authorities reported they did not know where Flávio Bolsonaro was. They launched an investigation to determine if he had fled to the U.S. Two U.S. officials said the Trump administration had been tracking the son's travel plans and expected him to leave for American soil.

A senior State Department official told ABC News that the department would allow Flávio Bolsonaro and his family to enter the country. The agency will issue them visas. This decision came as Brazilian authorities noted that Jair Bolsonaro is currently under investigation. The probes cover a sports betting case and the production of a movie about his father.

President Donald Trump commented on the election results on Monday. He stated that the vote looked like another rigged election, though he offered no evidence for the claim. Flávio Bolsonaro had run for president alongside his father in the recent campaign. His arrival adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing legal inquiries in Brazil.

The U.S. State Department's move to grant visas signals a clear path for the Bolsonaro family's entry. Brazilian officials continue their search for Flávio Bolsonaro while processing the details of his departure. The situation remains active as both governments handle the diplomatic and legal aspects of the transfer.
