Konotop remains without electricity five days after Russian strikes hit local energy infrastructure. Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi has ordered the Ministry of Energy and grid operator Ukrenergo to restore power as quickly as possible. The city in Sumy Oblast has been dark since the attacks on the night of October 23.

Koretskyi stated that critical infrastructure is currently running on backup generators. He confirmed that the government will deliver diesel fuel to the city today. This stock is needed to keep boiler houses and water utilities operational. The prime minister described the directive to officials as urgent.

Local officials are setting up heated spaces for residents to cope with the cold and lack of electricity. These centers, which the prime minister called invincibility centers, are stocked with food and power banks. Mayor Artem Semenikhin reported that the damage to energy facilities is extensive. He noted that the strikes have limited options for backup power for consumers.

Semenikhin said repair crews are working on the infrastructure to resume the electricity supply. The city was reported to have been without power for four days on October 27. No specific timeline for full restoration was provided by the government or local leadership.

The prime minister’s order comes as the outage enters its fifth consecutive day. The diesel delivery is scheduled to arrive today to support essential services. Repair efforts continue on the damaged facilities in the city.
