Barcelona and Real Madrid have played 106 wins each in their storied rivalry, creating a deadlocked historical record that could shift on Sunday. The two clubs face off in a La Liga match at Camp Nou, a fixture that draws millions of global viewers and often features the game's biggest stars.

The rivalry, known as El Clasico, has been defined by legends such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, and David Beckham. Current squads feature Lamine Yamal and Raphinha for Barcelona, while Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Jr. lead the Real Madrid attack. A victory for either side would break the century-old tie for the most wins in the series.

Past matchups have produced some of the most memorable results in football history. On April 23, 2017, Barcelona won 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu. Messi scored the final goal of the match, his 500th for the club, to seal the victory after Ivan Rakitic had put Barcelona ahead. Sergio Ramos was sent off during that match, and James Rodriguez had earlier equalized for Real Madrid.

Other classic encounters include a 3-3 draw at Camp Nou on March 10, 2007. A 19-year-old Messi scored a hat-trick for Barcelona, who were reduced to 10 men. Ruud van Nistelrooy scored twice for Real Madrid, while Sergio Ramos added a third. Messi's stoppage-time equalizer helped Barcelona finish the season with 76 points, the same total as Real Madrid, though Real claimed the title on head-to-head record.

Real Madrid dominated a 4-2 home win on April 10, 2005, featuring goals from Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo Nazario, Raul, and Michael Owen. Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o and Ronaldinho found the net, but Real Madrid's squad, built under president Florentino Perez, proved decisive. In a more lopsided affair, Barcelona crushed Real Madrid 6-2 at the Bernabeu on May 2, 2009. Thierry Henry scored twice, while Messi, Carles Puyol, and Gerard Pique also found the net for a team that won the league that year by nine points.

The rivalry also extends to cup competitions. Real Madrid won the Copa del Rey final on April 20, 2011, with a 1-0 victory in extra time. Cristiano Ronaldo headed in a pass from Angel Di Maria to secure the win. That trophy marked Real Madrid's first domestic cup since 1993 and their first major honor under manager Jose Mourinho. The current match will be played in Barcelona, with both teams seeking to claim the all-time lead.
