The Class 6A high school football regular season concluded on Friday night, with Roseville emerging as the primary beneficiary in the East Metro. The Raiders defeated Coon Rapids by a score of 24 to 14, a result that secured the Metro Maroon subdistrict title for the program. This victory marked a significant turning point for the team, which finished its regular season with a 4 4 record. That standing represents the best performance for the school since 2017, signaling a potential shift in momentum heading into the postseason.

The performance was anchored by senior quarterback Chase Browning, who threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns. The victory was described by Browning as a culmination of intense effort across the roster. He noted that the feeling was amazing and that the team had worked hard to see their efforts pay off. The win provides Roseville with a strong foundation for their upcoming playoff games, having now secured the top spot in their subdistrict.

In other significant action, Centennial delivered a decisive 38 6 victory over Anoka. This margin of victory likely guarantees the Cougars a number three seed in the Class 6A playoffs. The result also positions Centennial as a serious contender for a deep run into November. For Anoka, the loss was notable for its defensive implication, as the team was held to just six points. This was the first time all season that the Anoka offense failed to reach double digits.

The Metro East subdistrict title was decided in a close contest between Mounds View and White Bear Lake. Mounds View took sole possession of the crown with a 22 16 win. The game remained tight until the final minute, with the Mustangs trailing by two points. With 65 seconds remaining, quarterback Tanner Jude scored on a one-yard run to take the lead. A successful two-point conversion extended the advantage to six points. Preston Johnson then intercepted a pass on the Bears next possession to finalize the result. The Mounds View defense effectively limited White Bear Lake quarterback Wyatt Stachowiak to six completions on 24 attempts.

East Ridge concluded a season that may have fallen short of initial expectations with a 42 31 win over rival Woodbury. Logan Tretter contributed two rushing touchdowns for the Ridge. Elias Mather added a late interception return for a score, which put the game out of reach for the visitors. This result provides East Ridge with a solid finish to their regular season campaign.

Forest Lake running back Mack Jurkovich was the standout individual performer of the night. He rushed for 245 yards and two touchdowns in a 31 13 victory over Stillwater. This win locks in a number two seed for the Rangers in the Class 6A playoffs. Jurkovich, who has committed to play for St. Thomas, finished the regular season with 1,600 rushing yards, cementing his status as a top player in the state.

Park junior receiver Manny Vargas also had a productive evening, scoring twice in an 18 10 win over Eastview. He caught a touchdown pass and returned a punt 75 yards for a score. These plays were pivotal in helping the Wolfpack secure the victory.

The most dramatic finish of the night occurred in the south metro, where Lakeville South upset Rosemount 17 14. Sophomore kicker Dylan Nelson kicked a 36 yard field goal with one second remaining to secure the win. This last second score complicates the seeding picture for the south metro teams in the upcoming playoffs, as the result shifts the power dynamics in that region.

As the regular season ends, the playoff picture is now clearer for many programs. Roseville and Mounds View have claimed their subdistrict titles, while Centennial and Forest Lake have secured favorable seeding positions. The dramatic finishes in the south metro will require careful analysis by the selection committee to determine final seedings. Teams across the East Metro now turn their attention to November, with the goal of advancing as far as possible in the tournament bracket.
