OnePlus has initiated the stable distribution of Android 17 to the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 in India. This release marks the definitive end of the OxygenOS brand, as these two models become the first devices to transition fully to Oppo-based ColorOS.

The software update arrives earlier than the company's original schedule. OnePlus had previously set the launch date for October 29, making the current rollout roughly seven days ahead of plan. The stable version follows a period of beta testing, making the new interface available to the general user base immediately.

OxygenOS served as OnePlus' proprietary Android skin for years. It started as a minimal interface but gradually converged with Oppo's ColorOS. When the company reduced its global operations, it announced that OxygenOS would be phased out in favor of a unified ColorOS update strategy for existing hardware.

OnePlus framed the update as a shift toward integrated artificial intelligence. The company stated that ColorOS 17 focuses on "Flow with AI, Flow Everywhere." The goal is to reduce friction between tasks and devices, using AI to assist users in converting ideas into completed work. The release notes describe the system as offering "smarter experiences" and "smoother interactions."

The initial wave covers only the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4. Subsequent updates are confirmed for previous flagship generations and various Nord models. The next scheduled push is set for October 30, which will include the OnePlus 13.

The timing coincides with recent market shifts for the brand. The OnePlus 15 and other models sold out in the United States following the consolidation of global operations. The company has also introduced the OnePlus 16, which features a 9,000 mAh battery.

Other regions are expected to receive the update in the coming days. No specific dates have been confirmed beyond the Indian launch and the October 30 domestic follow-up.
