Four days passed before deputies recovered the stolen car, finding it parked in the driveway of the two suspects. The vehicle had been taken during a violent test drive on October 22 in the 4900 block of Aldrich Road.
The victim originally met a buyer at a Meridian Street retail store to inspect a car for sale. During the test drive, the man stopped the vehicle and ordered the seller out. He then punched the victim in the head repeatedly. A woman arrived in a separate vehicle and began hitting and kicking the seller.
The victim told investigators that one of the suspects wrapped their hands around his throat, restricting his airway. The man drove away in the victim's car, while the woman departed in her own vehicle.
Whatcom County deputies identified 57-year-old David Jackson and 58-year-old Blanca Jackson, both of Nooksack, as the suspects. Officers located a vehicle matching the description of the one leaving the scene in the Jacksons' driveway.
Probable cause supported charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, and theft of a motor vehicle against both individuals. On October 25, both Jacksons were arrested and booked into the Whatcom County Jail without incident.
