Stockton's 101 Passing Yards Raise Questions for Georgia Ahead of Final Three Games
The Bulldogs forced four turnovers to beat Florida 27-8, but their aerial attack underperformed against a weak secondary, leaving coaches to address the gap before facing Ole Miss, Missouri, and South Carolina.

Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton threw for 101 yards in the Bulldogs' 27-8 victory over Florida on Saturday.
The No. 3 Bulldogs secured a three-score win over No. 17 Florida during their home stretch after a bye week. Despite the margin of victory, the offensive output was lower than the Florida defense's season averages would suggest. Georgia recorded 318 total yards of offense against a unit that has allowed 255.0 passing yards per game on the season. The Bulldogs forced four turnovers, including one scoop-and-score and two short fields that yielded 10 points.
Florida entered the contest with a secondary that ranked 121st nationally in passing yards allowed per game and 126th in passing success rate at 50.7%. The Gators also ranked 112th in EPA per dropback at 0.23. Against these metrics, Stockton completed 13 of 23 passes for 101 yards. Freshman Craig Dandridge was the team's leading receiver with 39 yards. He accounted for 32 of those yards on the longest pass play of the game.
Head coach Kirby Smart acknowledged the aerial struggles in his postgame interview with ESPN's Holly Rowe. Smart praised Stockton for running the ball but noted the need for improvement. "We missed some throws," Smart said. "We left some points out there. We gotta get better."
The Bulldogs' passing game has shown inconsistency this season. Stockton previously threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns against Vanderbilt. He also made difficult throws during a road win over Alabama. However, his performance in the loss to Auburn featured three turnovers that contributed to the defeat. The receiving corps has yet to produce consistent playmakers. Dandridge leads the team with 20 receptions for 349 yards. Tight end Lawson Luckie has 12 catches for 197 yards and two touchdowns, but the group has not consistently threatened opposing defenses.
Georgia faces three potent offenses in the remaining regular season schedule. The Bulldogs will play Ole Miss, Missouri, and South Carolina over the next three weeks. These opponents feature quarterbacks Trinidad Chambliss, Austin Simmons, and LaNorris Sellers, respectively. Each has demonstrated the ability to score against strong defenses. If Georgia faces a higher-scoring game, the passing attack must provide a reliable scoring option to match the opposition.
The defense has held talented quarterbacks in check this season, including Keelon Russell. However, the team's ultimate goal extends beyond an 11-1 record or an SEC Championship. The Bulldogs aim for a national championship, a path that likely includes matchups against Miami, Notre Dame, LSU, and Ohio State. These teams possess offenses capable of high point totals. Ohio State quarterback Jeremiah Smith has produced large numbers weekly this season.
Georgia's next opponent is Ole Miss. The Bulldogs must improve their passing efficiency to ensure they can answer high-scoring performances from the remaining conference rivals.
