Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy brought the World Series trophy to New York City for a stop on the 'Today' show.

The team’s path to the championship surprised many observers. Murphy said he expected the team to be relentless from the start. Milwaukee lost only two games during the entire postseason run.

When asked what defined the team’s success, Murphy pointed to the relationships between the players. He said the group bought into each other and loved one another. The players went through highs and lows together. Murphy noted that the team was so relentless that one day they realized there were no more games left.

The manager said the run never felt easy despite the final score. He described every game as a struggle. Each contest required the team to figure out what was next. Murphy said he is proud of the group.

The title carried extra weight for a smaller MLB market like Milwaukee. Murphy used the size of the victory crowd as evidence of the city’s passion. He said the announcement called for over 700,000 people at the parade. He described the event as incredible.

Murphy also addressed the team’s famous racing sausages. He left it open whether they earned World Series rings. He said they certainly earned a lot of credit. The manager also mentioned his recent appearance on 'Saturday Night Live'. He said working with the show's drunk uncle character felt very familiar.
