The Baseball Hall of Fame will convene its contemporary era committee for managers, executives, and umpires on Dec. 6 in San Diego. The panel will review a ballot of eight candidates, requiring 75% of the vote for election. Any member selected will be inducted on July 25, 2027.

Four retired managers appear on the list: Dusty Baker, Bruce Bochy, Joe Maddon, and Lou Piniella. The group also includes former general managers Sandy Alderson and Brian Sabean. The ballot features the late Atlanta Braves owner Ted Turner and former National League President Bill White.

Dusty Baker, 77, managed in Major League Baseball for 26 seasons. His record stands at 2,183 wins and 1,862 losses. He won the 2022 World Series with the Houston Astros and received the Manager of the Year award in 1993, 1997, and 2000. As a player, he hit 242 home runs for the Dodgers, Braves, Athletics, and Giants between 1968 and 1986.

Bruce Bochy, 71, holds a regular-season managerial record of 2,252 wins and 2,266 losses over 28 seasons. He guided the San Francisco Giants to World Series titles in 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2023. He won the National League Manager of the Year award in 1996. Before managing, he played catcher for the Astros, Mets, and Padres from 1978 to 1987.

Joe Maddon, 72, managed for 19 seasons with a record of 1,382 wins and 1,216 losses. He led the Chicago Cubs to the 2016 World Series championship, ending a 108 year drought. He earned Manager of the Year honors in 2008, 2011, and 2015. His managerial tenure included stints with the Angels, Rays, and Cubs.

Lou Piniella, 83, managed for 23 seasons, compiling 1,835 wins and 1,713 losses. He won the 1990 World Series with the Cincinnati Reds. He received the Manager of the Year award in 1995, 2001, and 2008. In 2023, Piniella received 11 votes from the committee. He previously received 11 votes in 2018.

Sandy Alderson, who turns 79 on Nov. 22, served as general manager for the Oakland Athletics from 1983 to 1997. He helped the team win the 1989 World Series. He later worked as the executive vice president of baseball operations for Major League Baseball and served as general manager for the San Diego Padres and the New York Mets.

Brian Sabean, 70, served as general manager for the San Francisco Giants from 1996 to 2014. Under his leadership, the franchise won three World Series titles. He previously worked as a scout and director of scouting for the New York Yankees. Ted Turner, who died in May at age 87, owned the Atlanta Braves from 1976 until 1996. The Braves won the 1995 World Series during his ownership.

Bill White, 92, played first base and outfield from 1956 to 1969. He hit 202 home runs and won the 1964 World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals.
