Residents in the Pacific Northwest will gain an hour of sleep tonight as clocks fall back one hour with the end of Daylight Saving Time. The change also shifts sunsets in Portland to the 4:00 p.m. hour, a schedule that will remain in effect until January 20.
Friday evening offers favorable conditions for Halloween activities. Meteorologists at KPTV predict a mostly cloudy and cool night with temperatures between 45 and 53 degrees. While a slight chance of a stray sprinkle exists, most areas are expected to stay dry. Residents are advised to wear jackets due to the cool air.
Overnight, patchy fog will develop as low temperatures drop into the 30s and low 40s. Sunday morning will begin with similar foggy conditions before afternoon sun arrives. High temperatures on Sunday will reach the mid 50s.
The start of November features a dry period before wetter weather arrives. Monday will remain mostly cloudy and mild with highs in the upper 50s. Tuesday sees morning clouds dissipate into mostly sunny skies by afternoon, pushing highs into the low 60s.
A weather trough will enter the region midweek. Showers are expected to begin Wednesday evening and continue through Friday. Forecasters describe these showers as relatively weak, meaning accumulation will likely be light. The following Saturday is trending dry.
