Three tattoo artists in Tacoma are asking the public for financial help after intruders entered their shared studio in the early hours of Sunday. The break-in left the shops without key tools and damaged the physical space, forcing the owners to pause work and rely on community donations to recover.
The incident occurred at the Court House Square building around 5 a.m. on Sunday. Police have not yet made any arrests. A husband of one of the business owners told the GoFundMe that two men were involved in the theft. The same campaign includes a photograph of a hooded figure knocking out the security camera. A reward has been offered to anyone with information that leads to an arrest.
The affected businesses are Axanthic Ink, efm.Tattoo, and Full Bloom Ink. All three operate from a single shared studio space. The owners report that the thieves took thousands of dollars worth of high-end professional equipment. They also stole curated decor and personal items that could not be replaced.
The women created a GoFundMe campaign on Monday to cover the immediate costs. The funds will pay for new professional machines and repair the physical damage to the studio. The money will also go toward restoring security measures so the staff feel safe working again. It will also cover lost wages while the shops are closed.
The GoFundMe text notes that the theft damaged their livelihoods and their peace of mind. The owners are reaching out to the local community to help ease the financial burden. The campaign was verified by the husband of one of the affected business owners.
The three shops have been operating out of the shared studio for some time. The break-in has left them with a backlog of repairs and replacements. The owners are waiting for the security footage to be reviewed by police.
The GoFundMe page is open for donations. The campaign lists specific line items for the money raised. The next step is for the owners to purchase new equipment and fix the studio before reopening.
