Pueblo residents planning outdoor work or travel this weekend will face a sharp swing in conditions. The forecast for Friday, Oct. 23, calls for a high of 80 degrees and a low of 52, with morning temperatures in the 50s and breaks in the clouds allowing sunshine and afternoon warming. Rain chances on Pueblo's south side are 10% to 20% on Friday, rising substantially over the weekend.

A cold front advancing from the west is expected to cross Colorado on Friday, adding cloud cover and supporting thunderstorms farther east, including along the southern portion of Interstate 25. Sunshine was expected to emerge along the interstate around 10 a.m. as morning clouds clear. By Friday evening, the eastern plains could see thunderstorms return after a sunnier start, with afternoon temperatures in the 70s and 80s and lows in the 50s.

The front moves through Friday and into Saturday morning, dropping temperatures along with it. Saturday's high in Pueblo is forecast to reach only the 50s, a drop of roughly 30 degrees from Friday. Colorado Springs is forecast to reach 73 on Friday with a low of 47 before cooling into the 50s on Saturday. Monument and the Tri-Lakes area are forecast at 69 with a low of 43 Friday, also falling to the 50s Saturday.

Other parts of southern Colorado show a similar pattern. Canon City could see a few afternoon showers Friday, with rain chances at 20% to 30% and a high of 75 and low of 49. Woodland Park is forecast at 58 with a low of 39, with rain chances arriving for the weekend. Walsenburg and Trinidad are expected to reach 73 and 74 respectively, with lows of 49, making Friday their warmest day over the next seven days before weekend highs drop into the 50s. In the mountains, forecast highs are in the 60s and lows in the 30s.

Lingering moisture and flooding remain concerns in southwestern Colorado, where water levels may take time to recede. Conditions are expected to become calmer next week, with sunshine, some partly cloudy skies and temperatures gradually warming into the 60s. The preliminary Halloween outlook calls for temperatures in the 50s and 60s and dry weather, though that forecast could change.
